Contains Munson Kwok's Chinatown Redevelopment Project meeting agendas, meeting minutes, correspondence, meeting notes, subcommittee reports, and project documents. The majority of records are meeting materials for the Chinatown Community Advisory Committee (CCAC) and its subcommittees, Chinese Cultural and Community Center of Greater Los Angeles (CCACC), as well as for the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA). Majority of documents are English-language documents with some Traditional Chinese versions attached.

Also contains materials related to Munson Kwok and his wife Suellen Cheng's other community activism and organizational work for Chinese and Chinese American (as well as other Asian American) organizations as well as activism within the Los Angeles Chinatown area.

Biographical / Historical

The Chinatown Community Advisory Committee (CCAC) was a committee formed to advise the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) on plans for Los Angeles Chinatown. The committee had various subcommittees, including Budget Subcommittee, Housing Subcommittee, Multi-purpose Service and Cultural Facility Subcommittee, Planning Subcommittee, Residential and Commercial Rehabilitation; Security Subcommittee, and Transportation, Parking, and Public Improvements Subcommittee. Chinese Cultural and Community Center of Greater Los Angeles (CCCCGLA) was also formed from plans on creating a cultural center in LA Chinatown.

Prior to the establishement of CCAC, the Chinatown Project Area Committee (PAC) was a 25 member committee group that was elected in 1978 for a proposed Chinatown Redevelopment Project, which would workwith the Los Angeles Community Redevelopment Agency. This committee was then replaced and restructured to be the the CCAC in 1985 by Los Angeles City Councilmember Gilbert Lindsay.

From the Collection: 13.83 Linear Feet (Five bankers boxes (Box 1, 2, 3, 6, 7), one letter hollinger box (Box 5), two legal hollinger boxes (Box 4, 8), one Flip-Top roll storage box (Box 10), and two grey Barrier Board Drop-Front Oversize Print Box (Box 9 - large, 11 - medium).)
