Scope and Contents From the Series:

This series contains various correspondences which Dr. Nash wrote (and received) for research purposes throughout the writing of his dissertation. These were usually in the form of letters written to organizations or other historical societies requesting information about, for example, Chinese shrimp fisheries in a certain locality, area, city, or county in California. It also includes correspondence regarding Chinese junks and marine vessels, Chinatowns, and Chinese fishing camps.
