Scope and Contents

This series is comprised primarily of incoming and outgoing correspondence from and to Sam Chang. Letters address topic such as immigration law in the United States, impressions of culture and society in the United States, and matters of family and business, and are retained with their original envelopes. Also included are drafts of correspondence to Chang’s family and friends, his notes on Chinese farming in Southern California, and his notes on Chinese and English essays, poetry, and literature, all written in student journals. All materials are in Chinese with the exception of the Chinese-English Vocabulary Workbook.
