This collection contains 176 photographic prints of 76 unique images taken by L.T. Holman Gotchy, as well as postcards by Gotchy and other unknown photographers, featuring buildings, streets, and residents of Old Chinatown area in Los Angeles. The collection includes photographs taken by Gotchy between 1938 and 1959 and reproduction photographs taken between 1876 and the 1930s by unknown photographers. The photographs capture the exteriors and signage of local businesses such as Jin Hing jewelers, Hoy Sing Market, and Jerry’s Joynt restaurant. Also featured are prominent buildings such as Union Station and the Firehouse building. The photographs and postcards include inscriptions on their versos describing the date and locations from which the photos were taken, some of which include hand-drawn maps. A few postcards contain correspondence with the Chinese Historical Society of Southern California regarding the donation of the collection.

Several news articles about Old Chinatown and the Kong Chow Temple are included as well.
