Collection of Chinese and Chinese American periodicals
Content Description
Periodicals that are about or related to Chinese and Chinese Americans and are unrelated to any other collection, including magazines, newsletters, and newspapers. Periodicals includes Bakery magazine, China and the Chinese, Echo of Things Chinese magazine, Cricket, National Palace Museum newsletter, Rice magazine, Taiwan Newsletter, Happiness Pictorial Monthly, and an edition of the Los Angeles Times that is in Chinese language about Tiananmen Square. Although majority of periodicals pertain to Chinese and Chinese Americans, some periodicals may also be about Asians and Asian Americans in general.

Arrangement
The materials are arranged at folder level. The physical arrangement of the collection within the based in alphabetical order as well as the size and condition of the items. The periodicals within each folder are ordered in each folder by date.
Immediate Source of Acquisition
Chinese and Chinese American periodicals that were found that do not belong to any specific collection. Unconfirmed provenance, but likely collected by and/or gifted to CHSSC members.
Accruals
Any periodicals unrelated to any other specific collection are found and both fit the archives scopy policy as well as rare will be added to this collection. Any oversize periodicals will be added to the "Oversize Periodicals" box, while other periodicals will be added to Box 1. If Box 1 is filled, then boxes can be added to the collection with an indicators in numerical order (i.e. Box 2, Box 3, etc.). If more oversize periodicals are needed, then numerical indicators can be added as well (i.e. Oversize Periodicals Box 1, Box 2,etc.)
For every periodical added, it will be updated to the inventory sheet and in finding aid description to reflect collection.
Processing Information
Periodicals were found by Riona Tsai and Zoe Lee-Devito in both the archives and around the parlor room at CHSSC site. These were made into a collection by Riona Tsai after periodicals were identified as valuable and being within the scope of the archives.
Excessive duplicates were deaccessioned.
